Free COVID-19 Testing will be available to all Plainfield Public Schools Students on Saturday, October 31, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at PHS, Stelle Avenue Parking Lot.  Students must register by Friday, October 30. The link will be posted on the district website.

PAAAS Named Among the Best High Schools in the US

By US News & World Reports

 

Plainfield, NJ- April 21, 2020– The Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Advanced Studies (PAAAS) was ranked among the best high schools in the United States, according to an announcement released today by U.S. News and World Report. PAAAS ranked 174 among New Jersey’s 551 Secondary Schools.

 

U.S. News & World Report noted that PAAAS was ranked among the top schools in the country  based on data that reflects how well it serves all students, not just those planning to go to college. According to the report, 52% of the 279 students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement courses and exams. The total minority enrollment is 99% and 69% of the students are economically disadvantaged.  The school serves students in grades 7-12 and the student-teacher ratio is at 10:1.

 

Dr. Diana Mitchell, Superintendent of Schools, said, “I am extremely proud of the PAAAS Administration and teachers who take pride in preparing competent, forward-thinking , confident young adults who are committed to life-long learning  -- What an honor for Plainfield Public Schools.”

 

This is the third time PAAAS is recognized by the U.S. News & World Report. In 2016 PAAAS received a Bronze Medal for its standing among schools nationwide.

As Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Advanced Studies develops talented students in the areas of dance, Instrumental and Vocal Music, Piano, theater, Visual Arts, TV Production, Robotics and Graphic Arts it provides a variety of performance opportunities for our students. The curriculum is standards based and is aligned to the national and state requirements and benchmarked for scientific, technological, and mathematical literacy. The process for admission is by application and audition.
