Principal's Corner

February 1, 2019

Dear PAAAS Community:

As the semester ends, it is good to reflect on your student’s progress thus far at PAAAS. You will receive your student’s Report Card shortly; they are scheduled to be mailed on Monday, February 4, 2019. It is equally important for you to reflect on how your student has progressed in terms of their academic growth, social growth, behavior and involvement in non-academic activities, our clubs. Our scholars need our encouragement. So even if their achievements might not have met the goals you had established, praise whatever efforts they have made.

Please be advised that any student that might need support in any academic area, the faculty is available on a daily basis.  Their support hours are posted in their respective classrooms.  We also offer Saturday Institute for academic support from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 with transportation available at 5:00 pm., Students are assigned to the Institute by teacher recommendation, if you wish your student to attend, please contact their respective teacher.

We are in the process of planning a few major events that will take place in the next upcoming months and are asking for your help.  Our Black History Month Celebration will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. All families and the community are invited. We have a great evening planned and hope to see you there.

The school is trying to enhance communication with Parents and Guardians.  We need your support for this effort to be successful.  Please ask your student for the paperwork that goes home periodically.  Pertinent information is provided, and it is imperative that you read all documents, sign them if necessary, and return them.  This will ensure that you are aware of what is happening at PAAAS.  Also, check our school website for pertinent information as well as mark your calendars for special events coming up.  Please discuss with your student the dangers of social media such as inappropriate text messaging, group chats, pictures, and comments.

The chemistry position has been filled and the teacher is due to start on Monday February 4, 2019.

Students are not being as careful as they should with their respective IPADS issued by the district.  They are choosing to remove the protective case and this is causing much damage to the devices.  Please be advised that if the device is damaged due to student carelessness, the liability is on the student and the device will not be replaced without a monetary fee.

With warm regards,

Dr. Angela Bento                                                        Mrs. Aurora J. Hill
